If you’re going to Downtown Glen Ellyn to attend the Village of Glen Ellyn’s annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on November 25, 2011,stop by the Glen Ellyn Public Library(GEPL) at 400 Duane Street to celebrate the season. There will be a variety of festive events for library visitors.
Throughout the afternoon, between 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., there will be performances on the GEPL’s second floor. The Vivaldi Strings will start at 1:45, Anima will start at 2:30, One Voice Choir will start at 3:15, and the Glenbard South Madrigal Singers will start at 4:00, if all goes according to plan.
Crafts, balloon creations, a magic show, and refreshments will be available for children on the first floor. Crafts and refreshments will be from 1:30 to 4:30, balloon creations will be from 2:30 to 3:30, and the magic show will be from 3:45 to 4:30.
Friends of the Library will be hosting a used book sale during the GEPL’s annual Holiday Walk. Admission is free; no scanning devices permitted. This will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on November 25, 2011.
For the Thanksgiving holiday, the GEPL will be closed from 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd through 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25th.
There will be a free seminar for teenagers to learn about the role of ACT & SAT in college admissions, how to raise one’s score, and “get tips on how to excel on test day.” There will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on November 15, 2011.
The adult New Fiction Book Discussion Group will meet in the Board Room between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on November 8, 2011. The book under discussion will be A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan.
